What is an electric bike? An electric bike is just like a regular bike – except better! You can pedal if you want or twist back on the throttle (which is in the palm of your right hand) and get up to 20 MPH. That’s right, 20 MPH. Zoom zoom! It’s all the fun of a bike with none of the work.
What brand of bike do we use? It matters. We considered lots of different electric bike companies to make sure our clients would have the most comfortable, high-quality, and fun bicycles on the market. The one company that stands head and shoulders above the rest is
Pedego, a California company that is a leader in the electric bike world. Their bikes have been described as the “Mercedes” and “Bentleys” of the e-bike community, and we chose their new “Boomerang” model. One of the best features is the “deep step-thru,” which looks like the letter “V” (see pics). A deep-step thru ensures that anyone can get on and off the bicycle with no trouble because you do not have to sling your leg over the bar in the middle to get on. Instead, sit on the seat, just as you would on a chair at home, and go!
How does an electric bike work? The most common type of motor for electric bikes is called a hub motor, and that is exactly what our bikes have. The hub motor is integrated seamlessly into the rear wheel. When engaged (by twisting the hand throttle), the hub pulls the wheel along and pushes the bike forward. In other words, this is where all the “oomph” comes from.
